We are all wired for Connection

We are wired for connection … when we connect with others (both people and animals), our social engagement system is active, which strengthens our ventral vagal state (where we feel grounded, centred, emotionally regulated). When we connect with ourselves, for instance through sensory experiences, we strengthen our ventral vagal state. When we connect with nature, we take ourselves’home’, back to those primal urges to feel a sense of harmony with the natural world. Nature is rich with sensory experiences and connections with living beings, so it’s the perfect resource for strengthening the ventral vagal state, and it naturally encourages mindfulness as we bring our focus to the here and now.

So walk the dog, do some gardening, go for a stroll, feed the birds … and notice your senses - smell the flowers, listen to the birdsong, touch the grass, watch the insects …

Get out there into nature and connect, connect, connect ☺️
